this is great, i have fond and not so fond memories of my (raleigh?) with sturmey archer 3 speed when i was a boy.....i too rode miles, including the very same hills which seem much harder now on my 24 speed derailieur bike ! all my friends had 'racers' with five or more gears and i always seemed to be the one lagging behind (as i do today, he he).
I seem to remember my dad considered the sturmey archer set up as a good solid bit of british engineering whereas the racers with their deraliers were 'flimsy french rubbish' bless him.

:ohmy::blush::rolleyes:

The Coventry Eagle has Shimano gears. A lever on the right with nos 1 to 5 and another lever on the left that just goes up and down.

Do you start with the left lever up or down? Then it is gears one to five, move the left lever, giving you 6 to 10?

The size of the wheels is 62 cm

The Polish folder is the one with the Sturmey Archer 3 gears. :rolleyes: with
44cm wheels. I think folder means that it just folds once, to put it in a c*r.

I do apologise for providing duff info, but it is a beginners' section isn't it? :rolleyes:;):rolleyes:
