Has anyone on here raced at Hillingdon circuit. I have noticed they have a winter series starting this sat. I might be very tempted to have a go at one them. But being 47 and slow and a tad worried I wont keep up with the pack. How quick are the cat 4s what sort of average speed ?.

You don't need to worry about stuff like that on a track.

See, eventually they will all come round and catch you so you can pretend, for a while at least, that you are out in front, or in the pack or even chasing the bunch to gain a lap.

No one will notice.^_^

A timely thread, Trev. I have been asking myself the same question and infact I was tempted to sign up for the Inverse Winter race, myself.

I know it will get laughed at by some on here but I have been watching a lot of You Tube vids of crits and saw a few of the Hillingdon ones. As best I can tell, the avg pace will be perhaps 25mph (ish) - which may not be quite as bad as it sounds (given that you will be closely following a wheel for the vast majority of the time). I decided that I will need to move up to the training group club rides and see if I get shelled out of the back, first. I will probably try 4th category racing in the spring, all being well but I need to improve my sprint and make sure I can sustain 20+ mph in a group for 1 hour+

Good luck and let us know what happens!

Anyone know anything about the races held at Ludgershall army camp ?
I see cat 4s race is 20 mins + laps
How long is a lap of this place ?
20 mins sound quite doable might be a bit quick though
Are the army boys quick they should be fit

Looks like its 0.7 miles per lap, which is oval, with a slight dip.

Best I can tell from reading this site, is that it's for Army folk? Not clear if it's open to all but I suspect not. Hopefully somebody can shed some light. Good luck!
