How do you shake a fridge effectively? ;)

I like the idea of using a couple of water bottles (the blue Maxim ones) as a tool/tube carrier in one of the water bottle holders. Not too sure how to make the 'ends meet' so to speak, other than cutting two bottles off at the right height, so as to be compatible with each other, and maybe use silver tape to secure.

Has any one done this and, if so, is it effective/practical?

Not done it but I have purchased similar in a couple in various sizes.

I'm with @smokeysmoo a decent water bottle such as the podium from camelbak or the purist from specialized has a silicon coating which prevents the plastic taking on the taste of liquids its had in it previously.. I use both podiums and purists and rate them highly.
