Soon some will be celebrating the birth of baby Jebus. Are they hypocrites though? Many Brits don’t like brown migrants in need of shelter or Jews either. They never practise what Christianity preaches so why bother going to all the trouble & expense of the big day?

I think for most, it is just a celebration.

Besides, it was a Pagan thing, it had nothing to do with Brian, despite the film... In fact, you might as well say "Happy Birthday Santa" - I remember it was pointed out that it would more likely have been some time in Spring anyway, as what shepherds are going to be out tending to their flocks at that time of year?* 😆

Ah... Just answered my own question...:

Yes, shepherds
would be tending their flocks in December in the Bethlehem area, as winter rains bring lush new grass, making it a good grazing season, though some traditions suggest flocks were brought in earlier, while historical accounts confirm sheep were pastured even during Christmas Eve. While nights get cold, sheep have wool coats, and the region's winter isn't prohibitively severe for them, allowing grazing, especially for flocks destined for the Jerusalem Temple year-round

I was christened and brought up as CofE, however I dont believe in any religion. I see religions as the cause of so many wars over the centuries. I treat Christmas as a holiday and a means to enjoy a break from work and have proper family time. As to different coloured people / religions etc i honestly dont give a flying fig, at the end of the day we are all human.

I think this is going to get moved to NCAAP

Does the C stand for 'Christmas'?

The Angel Gabriel informed Mary that she was pregnant during Passover. If you add 9 months on you could get a date in December.

Thread locked, OP @Milzy please read the post pinned on Cafe, that clearly states no religion or politic discussions.
Cheers.
