A bit of advice on the underground please.

If I wanted to make a one off return journey from Euston to the Albert Hall would it be an easy job to do without having an oyster card and just paying a one-off each way with a credit card, I'm assuming cash is a no no?

Using a debit card seems to be the norm now. Are you traveling alone? Each traveler needs to have their own debit card.

As already mentioned, just tap in and don't forget to tap out (Sometimes you have no choice if there are gates) with the same card, either physical or from your phone is fine.
We just did this recently when we travelled to the O2, as mentioned we had to use a distinctly different card for my daughter, but it was fine, and the final charge very reasonable.

Its good that you call it the underground. To call it the tube marks a person as a commoner.

Don't forget the "walking" option. The tube will take about 30 mins. To walk, it is about 3 miles and will take just over an hour, but you can take in the sights of Oxford Street and a walk through Hyde Park.

Oh that's good to hear - not visited in years, much more simple with tap in and out on a card. MrsF has to be 'reminded' when we use the trams in town - took her a while to stop using tickets.

Years ago when I lived and worked in London I'd buy an annual pass (about £1100 I think). You could only but them at a station kiosk then. First time I went to buy one, the guy asked "cash or card". I said card and must have looked slightly bemused that he even mentioned cash due to the amount as he said "I always ask, you'd be amazed at how many people pay cash". I am guessing things have changed these days!

What most other people have said - contactless debit or credit card works fine and that's what I use on my regular commute in and out of London when I'm not on the bike.

Paying to use the Tube? How old-fashioned of you all. Have you not seen the TV series "Killer Fare Dodgers From Hell and How Our Brave Staff Apprehend Them"? 🤭

Big problem though, seems very easy on the face of it.

If that's a concern I'd recommend using a stolen one...

One thing that people get confused by is the underground map and the imagery of station locations. Sometimes, you do an awful lot of walking, underground to change lines and then at busy times, you can hardly get on a train when you get to the platform.

If only one or two stops, I would just start walking.
