My Dad was a conscientious objector**. He spent some of the war in prison then as a fire warden.
**IMO a brave thing to do back then, I can see both sides of the argument.
When people said to him eg "if everyone was like you Hitler would overrun us".
His response was "if EVERYONE was like me there would be no war".
