I just rememberd this.....and even though I tell this story against myself
I probably learned a lesson in life........though Im not sure what exactly.
When I was about 10 my mother and her best friend took me into a bike shop........I was told that the friend intended to buy her 11 year old knephew (who I knew...he was a right little tyke) a bike for christmas.
So the reason I was there was to advise her what bike he might want
( being a 10 year old myself)..........So there we were in the local bike shop.....and I looked at all the bikes.......my thought process went like this.........well if it were for me ..........I would get that lovely blue one, but as its for him ( and I didnt like him at all ) I suggested the rather small nasty looking girlie maroon one with the stupid bars and saddle...YUK
Well you know where this one is going..........on christmas day my mum carried in a rather large bike shaped parcel with my name on it !!!!
My dastardly plan had misfired on me .........I had actually been choosing a bike for me !!! And being short on brain power didnt realise it .
I rode that pig for about 2 years when thankfully I was much too big for it.....hating every moment.....As I said Im sure I learnt something from the experience
Though its hard to simplify it to a generic lesson
Just came back to me and put a smile on my face
