I have worked out that I could wangle a week off (probably) from 21-27 November. It terms of warm places then southern Spain and Morrocco are possibles. Morrocco sounds a bit adventurous, but I could spend a few days going from Marrakech to Agadir or vice versa. Easyjet is do-able.... I am bilingual in French so language should be ok

Any ideas re camping there? I assume it is pitch up in a village and plead for a space?

Any general comments?

Jay

I JUST EDITED TO ADD OTHER PLACES IN THE TITLE. Whilst it would not be touring, am looking at Lanzarote now too. Leave 21st back 27th Nov

ok, so no comments ! Have decided that the need to camp rough with darkness starting at 1730 is probably a bit tough. So now looking at Cyprus.

Views? It would be approx 21 Nov for about a week

Was about to say something about Morocco, but see you have moved on.

Not been to Cyprus for more than a few hours, but I suggest you change your thread title to attract those who have!

Thanks for posting, though, as I am toying with the idea of stealing a week somewhere and hadn't thought of Cyprus.

I went to Lanzarote in November a couple of years ago. I wasn't cycling but there were quite a few people who were and it looked like great cycling country with decent hills and good roads. Also in November the island was pretty quiet (ie locals going about normal business but few tourists).

I remember doing some research into climate as Cyprus had been the other option at the time. We went for Lanzarote as the weather was significantly better. It can be a bit chilly in the hills in the North, but at sea level it was good. There were a couple of rainy / cloudy days but a good bit of sun. The west coast is windy!

I can't really add much of use to this thread, but i've been to cyprus in december and was really impressed with the weather. I'd say it was perfect cycling conditions - around 20 degrees, and dry. THe only thing I would say is that it's definitely the tourist off season then, it's not a winter sun destination of sorts, and so you might struggle to find places to stay/eat. Lanza is pretty much open all year round, so you'd probably find more there (I make those comments having worked in the travel industry).

I'm off to Lanza myself in January, taking the bike, so keep the recommendations coming..

I am already booked for March in Lanzarote for a week of triathlon training (mainly bike) and went there this year too. So I know it well. Have been away this weekend and will do some serious last minute research tomorrow morning!

OK all booked! Tues 30th to Sunday 5th in Lanzarote - same place I went in March, same place I am going next March! A few days of road riding, sea swimming and a few runs! I feel dirty for allowing this post to be in the touring section!
