Getting old but not past it

Just got back from spending a week in Provence with my wife, which also included driving up the Mont Ventoux.
I am still sorting out the pictures and will post some at a later time.
We had a wonderful time. We started in Aigues Mortes to show my wife the horses, flamingos and bulls of the Camargue region. Then we drove in land to the Vaucluse region where I used to go on holiday with my parents when I was 11 years old. I wanted to find again the house we stayed in in 1961 in a small village called Gargas. I am happy to say that I found it again, although the village is now much bigger and the house has been modernised. We rented a small house on top of the hill and the view was fantastic, only 8 houses there. The weather great, 35 degrees every day and the food so much fresher and tastier than anything here.
At Mont Ventoux, there was a sportive for Dutch riders and walkers on that day and there was hundreds of them, of all shapes and ages, all making their way up,the mountains riding or walkings. Many riders were actually walking it part of the way as it is a brute of a climb!
When I first met my wife, 29 years ago, I promised her then that one day I would take her to Provence, it is now mission accomplished. We have travelled in many parts of the world but to her, Provence is the most stunning place she has ever visited and to me, it is just paradise.
