A Wonderful Sound

After picking my wife & daughter up yesterday afternoon, from East Midlands Airport, it was on to the M1, for the trip back North
As we queued down the A453, to join the M1 at jct 24, I could hear an engine on the M1, & see a shape

On joining the M1 itself, I was correct, & ended up running next to said vehicle for about 5 miles, at varying speeds, until we left it behind

Oh, it was a glorious sound, & through 'stacks' too!!

I certainly remember those, & a far better sound than a 2-stroke m/bike


Then, of course, there's the V8 engine car I've wanted, from its announcement in 1992, to this very day

More steam - Paddle Steamer Waverley going full ahead. I first got to watch these engines over 50 years ago and they're still going strong! Just a pity that the video can't reproduce the smell of the engine room....

I sailed on the Waverley from Margate to Southend for the airshow in 1989 IIRC. Great experience!

My Secondary School backed onto the Leeds - Wakefield - Doncaster - Kings Cross line, & they were definitely heard before they were seen!
