I was diagnosed with cancer when I was 26. I was told by the doctors that they were experimenting with chemo but did not know if it would work and informed me that I had 12 months to live if it was unsuccessful. I had a young wife, big mortgage and a 18month old. I remember crying when I was told. I then went crazy, cycling, running, in between bouts of chemo. I did not finish the course [much to their horror] as the side effects were so bad and in between sessions I felt well. The doctors admitted they had no idea how I survived, but thought much may be due to the fact I was in their word "A very angry young man". You bet I was! I never once thought about doing this and that. I just wanted to fight the world.

Here for rides.
Poor bugger was no age. I didn't agree with him on much, outside of a couple of restaurant reviews, but he was often very entertaining. RIP.

RIP.

If I was given 12 months I'd just make sure my wife and kids were in the best financial position they could be in really.

Would love to just say f##k it and quit work, rent out a few supercars etc but that's not the right thing when you have a family to look after..

A friend of mine retired in Spring this year and lost weight over summer.

He was on a diet so was pleased.

Then he felt "off" and went to his GP.

A month of tests and he was told he had terminal liver cancer.

He died a week later.
That's terrible. An Irish ex-colleague of mine who was a guitar player complained of pains in his wrist and found out he was riddled with cancer after going to his GP. He also died very quickly, and had had no other signs of anything wrong apart from that.
Terrible indeed.

And makes one reflect on just how fragile is this thing we call life.

We all like to think that we have a good innings of healthy life left, but any morning we can wake up to find that illusion shattered.

RIP AA, I enjoyed the restaurant reviews. Didn't visit any, but the reviews were a damn good read.
