On the tyre pressure front, I don't seem to be able to get them to what it says on the tyre - feels like the tyre is already hard when on the gauge it is not pumped up enough. Reading the above, it looks like there is not enough pressure in the tyres.

Maybe I should chuck the armadillo too...?

Have you got a good track pump? It will remove all the and you'll easily get the required pressure. Generally you should be looking to get the maximum or recommended pressure in.

Try pumping your tyre up before you bin the Armadillo unless you see some visible tyre damage. Armadillo's have got quite a good name for p'ture resistance.
