Having spent months planning a trip to France in 10 days time to soak up some sun and partake in la pierre chany sportive everything has been kiboshed....

My good mate skip who has planned the trip, designed Jerseys, got us put up at his folks place has gone and done a contador and bust his tibia having had a spill at the fishponds tunnel earlier today. Like contador he got back on and rode home until we agreed he should pop up A&E.... there have been discussions between me and the third member of the team and we think it's best we don't go as it's all of us or none. What do you think, I think we could go but dragging a man in plaster who is non weight bearing for 6 weeks to the loire in a van may not be in anyone's interest... Feel like a deflated balloon at the moment and my mate is feeling worse :cry:

Hmmm, not an easy decision to make, but I personally would go ahead.

So much planning and anticipation would have gone into it, it would be a shame if it was to no avail.

I'm sure your mate will understand (eventually!).

We will see how everyone feels in the morning and make a decision then. Now I am going to have a few cold ones and catch the TDF highlights. Think you are right and we should push on but as I ain't the one driving we will see. Cheers

Go as planned, and send him a postcard; or a text if you can't be arsed finding a post box. I'm sure he'll thank you in his own way when you get back :B).

I've never been religious, into the 10 wotsits or anything like them, but I've always tried to live by a simple creed of 'do as you would be done by'. If you were the one who'd come a cropper, would you want your mates to miss out on account of your bad luck? Well then...

Sod it... you'll forget what you've missed out on in no time! It would have been too much hassle, all that pedalling and wot-not. Instead, stay in Blighty, peeling grapes for your injured buddy, watching DVD box sets and drinking to excess. You could even have a round of charades.
