This is a bit of a long shot but if anyone reading this saw my accident on Peppard Road today (4th August 2010) at around 8.00am then please do get in touch.
It's a long shot since I don't have the registration number of the vehicle or the driver's details so if anything comes out of this experience for you, keep a cool head and make sure you exchange details.
No damage to me or my bike, in fact I'd like to claim it was my superior bike handling skills that made me swerve to slam into the side of the car rather than head on. There may be have been damage to the car but neither of us were particularly inclined to take it any further.

I was descending the hill going southwards and moved to the outside of the lane to overtake the, mostly stationary, traffic because the road narrows at a crossing island in the middle of the lane. Then a driver decided to do a u-turn and turned right across my path. This gave me an excellent opportunity to re-educate the driver about how cycle lanes are not mandatory under the law and to point out that things could have been a lot worst had I been riding a motorbike at the time.
Advisory cycle lanes have been painted on both sides of this part of Peppard Road in the last year so don't show up on the google streetmap photo.
