Accident Tavistock Place 25/9/2012

Paramedics and police in attendance 09:35 today junction of Gordon St with the Tavistock Way cycle route. Two casualties on ground in cycleway. One (male) in very bad way apparently unconcious, other (female) talking to paramedics. Both being placed on stretchers.

No damaged bikes or cars in evidence and at least one casualty looked like a ped. Stepped out into bike route maybe??

Anybody know more???

I passed this on my way in. It's a really, really bad junction with the unexpected two-way bike lane. There are frequently accidents there and the lane needs to be removed before someone gets killed.
I'm looking for more details.

Agreed. Those 2 way bike lanes don't work very well with several fast owner/riders stuck behind a tourist on a boris bike. I kept trying to get past once only to have oncoming traffic/bikes

Not really.
It's an argument for not having really stupid cycle lanes.

Nothing is more daft. We'll be insuring our dogs in case they shoot on somebody's lawn next.

Even if peds and cyclists had insurance it wouldn't stop injuries and potential deaths.
