Right, got two trips coming up this year.

One for the grand depart (will only get to see sunday but better than nowt) and continuing on for the yorkshire show. Could do with some campsite (tent) advice for this one please. Just me and Mrs N.

Another to Plymouth for the british fireworks championship. Hotel or b and b this time. Reasonable please, I'm just a poor paid butcher.

Thanks

You won't get cheap simply because the demand is so high, many camping sites are requiring a minimum of two nights.
Your looking at a minimum of £100 I would have thought for a spot in a field, if you want electrical hookup and amenity your looking at closer to £120

I tried booking a hotel in Harrogate and there's no rooms anywhere. Everywhere has been been booked solid for the last 10-months. The prices have trippled and gone stupid, but people want to go and will pay I suppose.

Have a look at a site called Airbnb.

Jannie and I have used it all over Europe and have never been disappointed. Best of all it can be very cheap.
