Are they are OK with returns or any problems during the guarantee period, as obvs no bricks and mortar place to return things to?

Yes - it is the store subdomain at Acer.com.

This would be genuine: SomeSubdomain.SomeWebsite.com

These would be dodgy:

• SomeSubdomainSomeWebsite.com
• SomeSubdomain_SomeWebsite.com
• SomeSubdomain-SomeWebsite.com
• SomeSubdomain~SomeWebsite.com
• etc.

Only trust the full stop!

an order has been placed, though they have a somewhat odd system of there only being a real order when they confirm, which could be two days hence.
Will be "interesting" if I need to ever do a return I suppose.

Strictly... those other variations would almost certainly but not definitely be dodgy. Having said that, anybody who bought a second domain for a legitimate company that looked like something a scammer would dream up should be shown the office door ASAP!
