Across Spain in November

Apologies. A shameless plug I know. But I've just got back from 2 tough weeks touring in Spain. The North coast was getting battered by gale force winds and lo and behold that was the way I was heading, it felt like the wind was trying to blow me all the way back to the South at times.

I've just started knocking together the journal over a couple of ales on crazyguy. If anyone fancies a browse over a morning coffee, here it is http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/spain2010

Cheers. I was pleasantly surprised by Spain, it's a great place for touring. And Albal, you pretty much got the route spot on  I'll try and update it all by the end of the week, while it's still fresh in the memory (and the legs) but, I'm better with a camera than I am with a pen, so it's pretty much as good as it'll get now.

Some stunning pictures, the colours you capture of the sunset and rise are amazing.

Im hoping to tour the south of Spain next year and would be interested to hear more about your wild camping techniques.

You'll have a great tour if you do, I wish I could have done longer (always the case though).

In the South there were endless amounts of olive fields, that were stepped into the sides of the mountains, and often provided the only source of flat land for camping on. There were however signs indicating private land all over the place in Spain. So the usual rules of arriving late, leaving early and leaving no mess applied.

One night I got caught pitching up and got told to move on, politely though. Another time the farmer of the field I had pitched up on (he wasn't there when I started to set up) drove right past my tent, made eye contact but didn't say anything, he never even stopped. So I guess it can be a bit of a mixed bag.

For the majority though wild camping in Spain was pretty easy and we rarely had trouble finding a spot, even resorted to a bench one night.
