Adductor Tendonitis

OK does anyone know anything about this injury, I had a power kite accident about 7 years ago and this caused my Adductor Tendonitis which is very painfull, it took about a year to get back to normal and the treatment is like something from a horror film including large syringes of gooey stuff injected into the groin which isnt nice and rather embarrasing to have to go through, now its back but nowhere near as bad as last time so with some other form of treatment it may subside a little.
Personally I dont think it has been caused by riding the bike and really dont know what could have brought this back on, so does anyone know if cycling will make it worse or should I simply hang my shoes up for good.

In general steroid injections (if that's what you had) just treat the symptoms not the cause, although the temporary relief is often long enough for the underlying problem to resolve. In you case it clearly hasn't, nor did it for me on two of the three injuries I had injections for.
IME you are most unlikely to be forced to stop cycling. Tendonitis generally responds well - but slowly - to eccentric exercises i.e. repeatedy extending the tendon under light load. This lot have some excellent videos for arm and shoulder tendonitis

It might be worth giving them a shout; or find a good sports physio in your area.

I would agree that you need to find a good sports physio. I suffered from repeated adductor strains which were quite painful and i had no idea what was causing them until I saw a physio. She very quickly spotted that I did not have a full range of movement in my hip (something I had never noticed) which was causing my adductor to over compensate causing the strains, left untreated it was getting worse and worse. In my case surgery was necessary to shave some bone off the top of my femur, this corrected the range of movement issue and I have not had an adductor strain since.

My strains never actually hurt while on the bike, but if I did some huge mileage (for me) then it definitely brought the symptoms on in the following week.

I am not suggesting for a moment that you may have the same thing, but the hip/groin area is very complex and you need a professional to work out what the problem is. Given that you have injured the area previously it may be more prone to further injury more easily than you might expect.

My adductor was damaged by a rapid compression then stretch when I had the kite accident, some of the tendon pulled away from the bone, thats why it took 12 months to heal, I do know its not as bad but when pedalling the muscle contracts and stretches with every rotation so I was wondering if this is aggravating the old injury.
Physio may be the only option but I dont want the injections again:stop:
