ok, not for me, but my lad bless him. He has just had through his first pair of bib shorts having worn non bibs before.

They fit round the middle (he makes Wiggo look fat!), but the shoulder straps are about 2 inches too long and the poor lad, his thigh muscles arent big enough for the grippers to do anything

I figure that the thigh part isn't too important as they wont move about being a snug fit around his middle and backside, but any thoughts on how to take up the slack in the shoulder straps?
My first idea has been sticky backed velcro, to make a loop, but anyone have any better ideas? (aside from feeding him )

cross strap, so left on right and right on left. Baselayer underneath, if still slack, then he has to grow

I like the thinking, I will get him to try that after tea

I think ultimately growing is the key, both up and out

Plant his feet in a grow bag at night.

There should be someone local to you that does cross stitching, at least I think that is what is needed. For the shorts that is, not the lad.

Must admit this is one of many reasons I like Impsport stuff as it is made to measure.

Just get your needle and thread and stitch a bight in the shoulder straps, which you can unpick and release later when he grows. No drama.

I've had to do this in almost every velcro strap of almost every seat bag I've ever bought because the straps are always too long for the velcro to meet round the seatpost.

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
Why aren't bibs sold with adjustable straps anyway? Velcro? Not just for fit - but convenience. Seems an obvious improvement. Likewise front zips.

'Needle & thread'
Then re-adjust as he grows

Safety pins seem the best option, rather than needle and thread. Easier to remove and re-adjust as he grows.
