Advice needed for touring please

Hi I am planning to cycle from Le Harve to the Hook of Holland at the end of May. If I travel light, just some panniers and plan to stay in hotels each, I worried about the security of my bike overnight, does anyone have any experiance of keeping the bike safe overnight when staying in French hotels? Also any tips? I was planning to use my Cannodale road race bike with a post mounted light wieght pannier system. This is my first bike adventure and I am 48. Thanks.

Ask the hotel if you can keep your bike in the room or somewhere secure. If the answer is no, move onto the next hotel.

Similar enquiries elicited responses that suggest that most hotels are accomodating (sic) and that you won't have a problem with secure storage.

Be careful to keep within the weight limit for the rack/pannier. IIRc thes are about 10 kgs - of which the panniers will take the best part of two kgs.

As vernon says re bike parking. Hotels etc. are much more understanding of cyclists requirements over the Channel.
