advice needed getting back into mtbs

after probably 10 years abscence from mountain biking ive been having a blast on a borrowed Scott from a friend, im looking at spending between 500-700 pounds on a hard tail for some weekend trail riding, no down hill or crazy stuff, any recommendations in that price range would be much appreciated as ive really lost touch with mtb specs.

The Cube Acid is an excellent Hardtail mountain bike, squeezing slightly over your budget at £769, but you get great specs on it for the price and I don't think you'd go wrong!

And as always, it's worth looking through the classifieds for second hand bargains, both on here or bike radar.

This is a good example of a LOT of bike for the cash.

Or this if you want a more of a XC cruiser.

I had £1K to spend and after looking at lots of makes I spent £500 on the Decathlon 'top of range' 8.1. The spec' was as good/better than most and it is relatively light. Nice bike and I enjoy riding it.
