Running out of fuel 'bonking' is unpleasant and will spoil your ride: Eat before you're Hungry, Drink before you're thirsty - little and often is the rule.

Thanks Fab. I've been trying to follow this advice. Still a bit wobbley and having to slow way down when sipping from the water bottle.

I eat the 4+1 bars and drinks, 4 parts carb to 1 part protein

Find them reasonbly taste and do the job

As far as intake i just maintain my intake throughout the wide, sip my drink regularly rather then gulp. I also prepare well before a ride, porridge and bananas before i go out

Thanks for all the advice everyone, plenty to go at there! I was running low on water at the end of a 16 mile ride today (was a little undulating though). Jelly babies, a banana and flapjack methinks - but only for the longer rides. JB's on their own will do for my one hour specials I think (around 15 miles).
