If you can afford them go for Dura Ace wheels. About £475 from Merlin cycles. Thats what I'm doing when my finance director signs my request off!

D-A wheels for that money's a bit OTT IMO.

Special K's or similar and use the rest of the money for other suff.

I now understand your problem.

Report has Bonty SSRs at 3 kg /pair,,, with cassette???

I've got a pair of Bonty Xlite. they are 1500g / pair without cassette and have aero spokes.

I thought Shimano's alloy rimmed factory wheels were a bit heavy.

The DA one's get a good rep. I have the 560 version (105 level) as my training wheel and they are OK, but not excellent. When they wear out, I would not replace with the same. They are a tad heavy and I find they need more maintenance than my SL's.

only really looking to pay about 250. was looking at the fulcrum racing evo. any good?

I use Zonda's - lightly used pairs will set you back under £250 posted on eBay or new £320 or so at Ribble. Highly recommended for a mid-price wheel.

The only downside is that if you have a prang they are expensive to fix.

They're the cheapest around.

R500 wheels are cheap, chearful and suprisingly tough. They can't really be knocked for £100 but they're certainly not in the same league as Zondas.

Make sure that whichever wheelset you go for you spend a little bit of your budget on quality tyres to match.

Zondas for a great quick all round wheel,
American classics / Reynolds if you want something light wheel but strength isn't a priority.
Hand built open pros on Ultegra hubs if you want a quality strong general purpose wheelset.

Ksyrium SSC ES - lovely wheels, my second favourite pair. My favourites are home built on Record hubs; they're not actually as good as the Ksyriums, but it's really nice riding on wheels you built yourself.

I dont see the point of buying wheels that cost almost as much as the bike?
There are much cheaper alternative Mavic wheelsets for instance.

Surely you are not trying to impress us all, monsieur?
And sorry for calling you Shirley.
