A mid 80s steel rigid MTB, 531 or 4130 butted frame. New tyres, chain, cabkes etc, good set up, guards, lights, and you have a virtually unbeatable and very cost effective all weather tarmac and light trail terrorist. You can easily drop bar them up if that tugs your rug.
