What happens when Health and Safety manuals are so large that you need to consult the section on heavy lifting before moving them?

Then the manuals are so large and heavy that they get put on the floor

and someone trips over them?

This thread makes me glad I only every did manual work when I was working. Having said that we did used to have annual assessments, they weren't to bad at the last job, the manager filled them in and we signed them, one place used to hand out a form with three sections in and we would have to tell them how we thought we'd done in the previous year covering three aspects of our jobs. I often wondered if I put in what I wrote the previous year if anybody would notice.

Inured to love 'e-learning' modules when I was in the police. I is dyslexic and have a report from my specialist proclaiming that due to the way my memory assimilates and retains information (ie, not very well) that such self learning malarkey are unsuitable for me. Used to really pith off HR.

Try online mandatory refresher training (e.g. data protection, bribery and corruption, and safeguarding) where the system keeps crashing.... :cursing:
And then add in IE11 non compatibility or Java and it doesn't save your completion at the end, after spending an hour on it!!

I know I've said it before, but the best bit about working for a small company is no HR shoot. One of the Directors deals with the employment law and discipline stuff, other than that there is no need for systems and metrics and clever assessments. Everyone knows if you are doing a decent job, everyone knows if you are capable of doing more, everyone knows if you need specific training and help. Most importantly, the owners know your worth.
