Aggressive driver

not whilst on a bike for a change!
pulling out of a petrol station which can be a difficult junction i saw a gap and went for it late last night. it was dark and after about 50 yards the car behind had caught up and was flashing and beeping behind me, odd i thought, i didnt pull out, i was doing almost 30mph coming to some lights maybe 150 yards from the original junction, he pulled to my side, wound the window down and pointing and hurling abuse said something to me. i was perplexed? he obviously felt i had pulled out on him but even if i had does it warrent that level of aggression?

the other thing that gets me is im in a slow family car in the pitch black, it could have been a full family with kids, an old lady or anyone, why would a young man in a big sports car want to intimidate someone else regardless?

it was way way over the top and i still dont think i did anything wrong, if i did pull out which i dont believe i did, its a busy junction and people know you need to get ou when theres half a gap, we hit the lights on red anyway so whats the issue? people have pulled out on me at the same junction and i just let it be, i know they are waiting for any little gap

can anyone tell me i was wrong or they can justify their behaviour?

He sounds like the type that will accelerate on purpose to try and make you think you had pulled out too late. Ignore and go on your merry way, he has issues.

Late at night? Probably drunk. I tend to make allowances for drunks. Their driving is rarely very good!!! :-)

i agree wholeheartedly, however in this case it wasnt a tight gap but a reasonable space, the only reason he came so close is he mus have been way over the 30mph. if id known he was driving so fast i may have waited but its not easy to judge speed at night with lights only, and you make presumptions being in a 30 zone

on reflection i dont think i pulled out on him but pulled into a gap in front of him and drove slower than he wanted me to, in his mind this is worthy of being beaten up, which is what i presume he was looking for by his angry behavior

Mate of mine had this happen , but as he was looking in the mirror at the clown flashing he didnt notice the traffic lights change until the last second , hit the brakes and the road rage guy went straight into the back of him,the brilliant thing about was there was a Police car coming the other way and and saw the car go into the back of him at about 20mph , my mate got a great pay out on the car from the insurance and the bloke was found to be over the drink limit and got arrested and banned for six months, Result...

Remind me, what would be the primary purpose of owning a big sports car?

to drive in a sporty fashion when safe to do so mainly on open roads as oppose to late evening in the dark on built up streets whilst intimidating an unknown driver in a slow automatic family car

Would that that were true but assuming for a moment that it is, you have highlighted the flaw in the plan. The dream is the open road, the reality is otherwise, the inevitable frustration gives rise to the roadrage.

ok if that is true does it justify this behaviour? therefore those with fast cars are excused for road rage and those without are not?
