WD40 should work but that will leave an oily mark. How about Swarfega? That washes off with warm water.

A nail scrubber and one of those bars of vanish stain remover can work wonders on car interiors.

I've been surprised at the effectiveness of baby wipes in removing stains without doing any damage. That would be the first thing I'd try wipes and good scrub.

There are oil and tar removers in the household cleaners section of large supermarkets.

Neat Muc Off or the equivalent definitely works - personal experience.
