I know this probably defeats the object as you'll get fat on the side of the basket from splattery foods like sausages, but I tuck the excess liner under the platter like this

When the foods is cooked and you if remove the basket carefully and keep it flat, any fat should congeal on the paper as it cools and can be thrown away easily

With non splattery or less fatty foods such as fish fingers, chicken and the like there's no mess at all.

I have the same Ninja air fryer as in the post above.
Call me old fashioned, but I find it easy enough to simply use the air fryer as intended, with no liners. Even with super splatter food like chicken thighs which I have just had (marinated in Jamaican jerk seasoning from Walkerswood, mmmmmmm; lovely stuff but I digress!), all I do is rinse out the basket and plate in very hot water to get rid of the worst, then put the plate back in and part fill the basket with more hot water and a dash of fairy liquid. Leave it to soak while I wash the rest of the dishes (no dishwasher machine here; all done by hand in the basin) and by then the basket and plate clean up easily.
Having read the rest of this thread, I will be sticking with my method!

That's a good point actually. We just have a small, cheap one. It has a grill that stands on the bottom to keep a gap underneath the food but a liner obviously prevents this. It would be better to have a square liner to go on the very bottom so it would catch all the grease and allow air circulation. But then you're back to square one with food directly on the grill. I don't know the answer. Apart from we throw out basket and grill in the dishwasher or scrub it in the sink. The non-stick is still intact so I guess we're lucky

The liners are usually perforated, to allow air flow, though it must be a bit more restricted than it would be without them.

I just use a suitable sized baking tin that I keep for the air fryer.
Should I need to clean he basket, a 10 min soak in soapy water always works.

I find that the walls of the metal baskets do get covered in little splatters of fat over time

and no matter how often I clean then the bits won;t come off
always clean them after every use - and fill them with soapy water immediately after use - but the walls are still covered in tiny bumps

not really a problelm as I know they are clean

The things that I would like would a a liner for above the element
it gets greasy up there and I need to clean the "ceiling" and especially the fan
but it ia a pain to get to because someone decided that the element doesn;t need to be removable!!

We have them in the work air fryer a real boom as you can just take the liner to the kitchen.

But I agree they don't let the air circulate in the same way.

We use some silicone "baskets" - not really baskets as they don;t have any holes in them
and then put racks into them

Then the silicone basket can just go in the dishwasher

the baskets for the air fryer proper can;t go in the dishwasher unless I unscrew the end plates and handles as they are plastic and wouldn;t like the heat
apparently

although I would question the design where the basket isn;t dishwasher proof!
