My old Volkswagen Golf's airbag light has appeared on the warning lights bit. I'm worried now that the thing might go off all of a sudden. Do any of you know about these things? Thanks in advance for thoughts and advice.

It's not gonna go off.

It's lost connection to the airbag or the sensor that fires it off probabally. My Golf had it's stearing wheel changed under warranty. They gave it back with the Airbag warning light lit. I gave it back. Turns out that the computer needed a hug, but there was no danger.

I'm not sure but is that an MOT fail?

The car was MOT'd on Tuesday, then the light came on the following day. The car has more warning lights than a jumbo jet, i choose to ignore most of 'em.

I think NT had similar after he had to disconnect the sensors to get the passenger seat out (looking for a leak). He was confident the bag wasn't going to go off, and I think it got fixed at the next service....?

Not an MOT fail. We asked our mechanic chappy about the airbag light that is forever on in the Rover. He says that its fine and won't affect the MOT

the only thing that's gonna make it go off is if you crash. the warning light is to tell you this probably isn't going to happen. it's more likely a computer glitch tho.

mine has been on for a year. The mechanic couldn't find anything wrong, so he put a bit of black tape over it so i wouldn't be bothered by it when i was driving.

and before you say anything, yes, the mechanic is my dad's mate, not a fiat dealer. i do need to get a 2nd opinion, the tape is temp measure. i just haven't got round to it yet

didn't stop it passing it's MOT recently either.

My airbag light couldn't be re set by the normal diagnostics route and I had to call a specialist "airbag man" what else would he be called ! And it is an MOT failure
