Airbrushing

Are the photos of fashion show models on the catwalk digitally rearranged/airbrushed before publication? Quite a few of them actually look quite ill. A complete inability/unwillingness to smile doesn't help the look.
Rick Owens tried something different in Paris this year - a really interesting combination of sound and movement...dramatic and arresting stuff! Worth a watch - and the clothes work!

(@slowmotion - might as well go for the three straight 'alerts' in one session!)

Yes, a lot of the eating problems some young women have are caused by the manipulation of photo-models' bodies. I watched a guy demonstrate how a picture of a thin, and quite pretty girl, was transformed into a photo for the front of one of the popular women's magazines. Frightening how much leg length was added and how the body and face were slimmed to an emaciated look. When asked why he did this, his response was that it was an aspirational image for women to aim for.

Utter stupidity and little wonder some girls become ill trying to emulate this image.

Nice to see proper people on a catwalk.

I hear a lot of parents talking about their exasperation with their teenaged kids trying to emulate the images that they see in those magazines. They emulate the models by not eating  At least two of my client's have anorexic or bulimic daughters and they are at their wits end and have a never ending cycle of doctors, therapists, hospitals etc

Perhaps the magazine sales would take a hit if they showed real people with the occasional zit.

Yes, but it is easier to persuade someone that a drawing is not a real representation of the women depicted than a photo.
I do not think there is anyone to do the persuading!
