Anybody ever used their air miles to fly for free? I have but the airport taxes were heavy and the timings inconvenient. I have just checked the AF/KLM site for a specimen flight for me and my family and the taxes would have been 1,100 Euros! Waste of time!

I've used my BA Airmiles a few times - BA still charges fees and taxes. I always xheck the on-line price too. On occasions the flight has cost less than the fees and taxes so I paid £££ rather than use miles. Generally works better for longer flights.
