We usually book an airport hotel and arrive the day before. Airport hotels for one night under £100 and the reason being if you travel to the airport, on the day, you could miss your flight through unexpected delays.
We then check in online in the 24 hr period before the flight and check bags in four hours before departure. We then lounge around the airport until boarding starts.
This has always been our favourite way as when you spend 12k to 13 k on a holiday you know it makes sense.
