I feel spoilt for choice!

Hmm.... now you mention it, there really are a load of words beginning with T that could fill that gap!

YES! It's been years since I've seen, or rather, heard anyone use one appropriately. Mostly they're used to show annoyance, say hello to a friend (which also ends up aggravating random people because it seems like they're 'having a go' at them) & finally I got sick to death of hearing "I'm here to pick you up toots" in my previous house at times as late at mid-night.

The last time I wanted to use a car horn I ended up slowing down to about 1mph as I had to think too long about which the button it was.

I know exactly where my horn switch is - a huge area in the steering wheel boss. It's ultra sensitive so I usually use it when I least expect which first scares the bejasus out of me then I feel embarrassed.

However, after the MOT revealed it hadn't been working and replaced the fuse, it saved my life. I was on the outside of some dopey HGV driver's artic when he suddenly decided he wanted to pull into the space occupied by my van. Neither acceleration or braking would have solved the problem and a blast of horn fortunately made him change his mind. I wondered what I'd have done if the garage hadn't fixed it.

On a bicycle a bell does a good enough job for me, I simply wouldn't use an airzound. I do have a marine foghorn that I could fit. It could drown out any vehicle horn I have ever heard and I would need ear defenders to use it.

Aren't you supposed to be an advanced level driver which would mean you should know where the horn is on your Alpha car?
I don't know which button to press in a Alpha car as I've never driven one, let alone owned one.

Which is the sensible way to do it. However every now & then a car manufacture decides that a thumb operated horn is better... which is great right up until you have 5 options per side to chose from. As a seldom used item one has to think about which button it is, also being thumb operated & near your hands they tend not to be that sensitive.

Yes in your situation it was used appropriately, however I'm still of the opinion that for very occasional correct use of them they cause more aggravation & accidents than having them justifies.
