I seem to remember him losing an advertising deal with Burtons because he had made racist remarks about Hagler. It was unusual for a sponsor to do something like that in the 1970s.

Do you have any evidence to support that thesis ?

I would imagine that a fair number of people diagnosed with cancer in March last year didn't survive six months either.
