We have had our bird table outside the kichen window for 20 years . We feed the birds every day between October and May. We get so many species. My favourite is a flock of about 30 goldfinches we get every year.

Over the years we have lost a couple of birds to sparrowhawks. But last week we lost 2 in a week.

Jannie insisted something must be done and so operation Alcatraz was put into motion.

3 sides of the bird table now has a rionet fence in front of it, which we will use to grow climbing roses and clemetis. There is a 20cm gap at the bottom to allow the ground feeding birds a chance to escape and a tall rose guarding the entrance.

The small birds can get through the mesh and the other birds are working it out.

Its nice to be back on the garden 😁

It always surprises me how nice it is to do some gardening after a period of not doing some.

I cut the front lawn yesterday and hopefully will be doing the back one today .
