Yes. But why record your journeys? Is it just to provide evidence to insurers when you have a prang? Surely the chances of that happening outweigh the inconvenience of charging camera, remembering to switch it on etc. Just wondering why people have them.

A few seconds inconvenience at the start of a journey is well worth avoiding 18 months arguing the toss with both your own and the third parties insurance company when he invented a fictitious witness, at which point my insurer was prepared to roll over and pay him out in full. That ended up in court before it got settled - but all that could have been avoided with a dashcam, which is the primary reason I've now got one

Blimey, you make it feel like a miracle I've lived this long. I've been driving 30 years or so. I don't recall a single instance of downright reckless driving. Stupid driving, yes, but nothing that I would consider to be endangering to my life as another motorist

Dashcams are very popular in Russia apparently due to the prevalence of people jumping in front of cars and feigning injury for compensation. Remember the meteor that was filmed in Russia? That was on dashcams

Most Russian insurers mandate dashcams due to the problems you've highlighted. It's difficult to see why they don't over here for the very same reason.

That's my insurers problem, not mine.

See my response above. No independent witnesses and you'll be lucky if they don't try to settle 50/50.

I've got one in the car and trust me, I could upload something to YouTube everyday if I was that way inclined, the standard of driving now is the worst I've ever seen it.

It's also avoided two potentially nasty confrontations when people have been up for verbals (or more) but on spotting the camera have driven off.

So true and it's not just Joe Blogs in cars, I see so many "professional" drivers in very large vehicles doing the same, scary !

Took the herd out for a nice drive to Grandma's today.cracking drive and even witnessed fantastic driving attitudes towards cyclists on roads I know to be a bit switchy buttock on two wheels. Only one Cockwomble spoiled the calm in his Audi A.3 when he blasted past the rest of us queing to enter the road works on the East Lancs and forced his way in before he hit the cones and anyone working in the road works :cursing: Its official, they live and breed among us

The first driver should have their license taken off them, I saw nothing wrong with the second overtake, other than the speed, there was clear sight.

Do you think a forward facing dash cam would either capture the incident or save one from injury?
It could if the car was stopped & then suddenly violently moved forward after being hit.
