@skudupnorth , I can attest to your view on Bolton driving, it is often a quite lawless town regards driving & you really do have to drive aggressively defensive & be switched on.

Do you work in Bolton as I see from your profile you are just around 3 miles from me in Astley ?
I do work in Bolton and commute either on the bike or in the car which can be 7 miles of joy or 7 miles of "How did I survive that ?" Mind you, some places in and around Astley can be interesting on the road  So glad they have surfaced most of the canal path now which gets us away from some dangers :wahhey:

The amount of dangerous drivers out there have made dash cams the must have even when you are driving just like many cyclists use them on rides. Its a sad state of the times i'm afraid. We were nearly wiped out by a speeding, red light jumper yesterday, some sub-humans do not give a toss about anyone else but themselves.

In RUSSIA.......
I don't think that many do, most drivers buy their own for their own protection but other than the large blue chip type companies many smaller firms don't bother.

The camera that seem to be getting more widely used within the haulage industry and may be insurance related are the truly hated 'driver facing' cameras, they seem more interested in filming the driver all day long than the road ahead of him. (I would just refuse to drive)
Do you think the driver facing cameras modify driving behavior at all? Most have seen that terrible video of the lorry driver messing about on his phone then ploughing into stationary traffic on a UK motorway, killing a car's occupants. Clearly a driver facing camera didn't modify the driver's behavior in that instance. But I was wondering what your view was. What is the thinking behind the driver facing cameras?
