It's a bit more complicated than that...

Some woman eating a hot Chinese. Yes. Really.Where on earth did she get a smellu hot chinese at this time of the morning?!
[/quote]

What do you suppose the Chinese eat for breakfast?

You'll be telling us thet your train is actually moving next, User!
Ban eating. Ban those effing hot pasty shops from stations. They are only bought by sweaty businessmen to hide the 'hum' of their four-day old socks.
Carry a can of expanding foam filler to squirt into people's ears to give a better fit to the earbuds...but I do agree - the noise sucks. If it can be heard in the open air, what is going on in the bonce of the 'wearer'? :headshake:

It's a loooong time since I commuted on a train but ....

I'll add:
  • having to sit next to someone who is larger than their seat
  • someone trying to read a broadsheet elbowing you all the time.
  • someone near you with cold or flu.
  • BO armpits on the tube.
And people ask me how I can cycle in the rain.

On 6.40am from Waterloo East to Woolwich Arsenal.

Some bloke with chiff chiff chiff rap soul thumping out his i-pod.

Some bloke behind droning on the mobile. In a really droning monotone.

Arriving at Woolwich Arsenal on a wet morning would be what really got me down.

To top it off you could have been on the train that was delayed by dew on the tracks...

Reminds me of an old Spike Milligan quip:

I woke up this morning... looked out the kitchen window... there was a heavy dew* on the lawn. "Get off my lawn" I shouted at him.

People on the trains I commuted on must have been really skinny, I never had that problem.
  • someone trying to read a broadsheet elbowing you all the time.
Actually, it wasn't that, it would have been the HUGE piles of Metro Newspapers everywhere

'Oh I'll just leave it here so that the next person can read it'

...just as a small mountain of them topples over and crushes the person next to you.
  • someone near you with cold or flu.
My big sister has had a cold since about 1990 (no joke!), so quite frankly, I don't think I'd notice any more unless they started making the disgusting noises she always makes.
I've had that before, yes, but a bit like the fat person one, not very often. Maybe people in London or wherever you are are just dirtier.

Either that or my sense of smell is just zarked.
So you can get a shower en route so that you don't have B.O. too??

B*SES however, I GENUINELY HATE the b*s!

There's a guy gets on my train every morning, looks a bit sweaty and greasy. Opens a bacon sandwich with brown sauce and eats it in about 30 seconds. The smell's a bit much at 06:40. He then gets the Blackberry out and starts texting with the keypad tones on at full volume while sniffing every few seconds.
A woman a bit further down eats a jar of baby food every morning and scrapes the jar with her teaspoon for about five minutes when she's finished. I'd sit somewhere else but it;'s the bike space carriage.

It's like people drinking lager at the airport at 08:30, the normal rules seem to go out of the window.

OK - OK.

I didn't cycle because I was going to Edinburgh (Woolwich Arsenal to City airport). Just got back home.

And I was barely awake. And a bit headachey with a hangover of an early start which accounted for my bad mood. Apologies.

Hot asian food for brekkie is cool.

Spent the afternoon at Greyfriars Graveyard/Bobby's Bar. So a good ending to the day.
