As long as I breathe, I attack.
According to a survey in the sun "news"paper over half of non cyclists think we are lazy social misfits, this was pointed out to me by an enthusiastic co-worker !!

We have been rumbled at last ,its the Sun so it has to be true !

We don't do all that work pushing down the car pedals (much harder than bike ones) or turning a steering wheel.

We don't buy motor fuel, depriving the country of loads of money.

The most frightening bit from the Grauniad article is

".....Fifty percent of those surveyed disagreed with the statement that "Roads are for cars not bikes" (compared to 28% who agreed). At the same time, though, more people than not said they would be unwilling to drive more slowly if it encouraged more people to get on their bikes. And 54% do not want to see pro-bike measures that penalises car drivers......"

Persoanlly I find that the best part of a third of drivers believe cyclists have no right to the road a very frightening stastic. I'm sure if the same question was asked in any other north western European country the figure would be sub 1%

I admit it.

I was too idle to be bothered with the hard work of sleeping so headed off into Derbyshire at 6am so that I could sit around for 2 hours on a comfy[1] saddle before work.

All to avoid the hassle and toil of jostling my car around a traffic jam at 8am [2]

[1] That's a lie....blood on the shorts this morning, I REALLY need to work on the saddle positioning..think I need a seat post with a little more adjustment, one notch takes the nose too high or too far down

[2] That bit isn't a lie....a 2 hour ride is far more fulfilling and relaxing than a half-hour queue

Get down to the Doc, unless of course you are sure it is from cycling.

It is definitely from the cycling, for some reason this morning everything was more chafe-y than usual, nothing more sinister

There's a thread on CTC about this which links to the original document which is by and large, positive towards cycling:

http://info.uwe.ac.uk/news/UWENews/article.asp?item=1823

The bit about cyclists being lazy (in the workplace, not lazy as in lacking physical exercise) is to do with the perception of fellow workers who commute by bike instead of a car. Because they are on a bike they must be poor (cannot afford a car?) and they are poor because they do not work hard. Work hard and buy a fancy car to show how much money you have. Nonsense of course.

All cyclists are lazy as per the title of thread ....................... I don't think so.

"over half of non cycling sun readers" which would probably include most WVM, taxi drivers, truckers, chav nova drivers and generally obese people.

I have a car. My bike cost four times what I paid for my car.
