Calling all N Mcr commuters

Hi, I'm looking for a route between Castleton(Rochdale) and Oldham Hospital, quiet roads and avoiding as many hills as possible(I realise almost every direction in Rochdale/Oldham is uphill). Its for her indoors and the last thing needed after a long hospital shift is hill reps

Tell me about it....all I can think of is past Tonges farm ie through to Oozewood and through Royton(this is the busy part).

I'd be looking at a way of getting across to the Rochdale canal at the Rose of Lancaster pub. That stretch of canal is quite pleasant from memory. Otherwise, there are a number of bumpy dirt roads across the void between Royton/Oozewood and Slattocks but these will be horribly mucky in winter or whenever it rains.

Getting from the hospital to the canal looks easier than I thought using shared? paths around/under/over the motorway/dual carriageways and residential back streets.
