Jetex fuse made excellent detonators for my home-made bombs when I was a teenager. You just short circuit them using a command wire and a motorbike battery.
I set fire to the contents of my desk in French with some saltpetre soaked string (destined to be bomb fuse) that was burning too hot to extinguish with my fingers the classroom dialogue went like this:
Miss Veitch: 'Levy! is that smoke coming out of your desk?'
Me: 'No miss.'
Miss Veitch: 'If it's not smoke, what is it?'
Me: 'Mist, miss'
Miss Veitch: 'Open your drawer Levy!'
The drawer was reluctantly pulled out, the smouldering detritus comprised mainly of Spangle, Opel Fruit, Fruit Salad, Black jack and Bazooka Joe wrappers exposed to lots of fresh oxygen burst into flames. Jike and Boz sitting near me excitedly rushed for the fire extinguisher fought for control, hit the button and liberally sprayed me and the contents of the drawer getting great pleasure from the excercise.
Miss Veitch: 'Levy! Go and stand in the foyer!!'
Leaving a trail of water I headed to the foyer strategically placed on the flightpath to the headmaster's office. The pending outcome was a forgone conclusion......
