Some averages for nearby Santander https://weather-and-climate.com/average-monthly-Rainfall-Temperature-Sunshine,Santander,Spain

It's a lumpy sort of terrain along the coastal strip and going inland tends to give one a long climb. Snow on the tops up that way during the winter.......

The snow up in the Picos d'Europa gets pretty deep. They are big mountains. Mind you we have had further global warming since I went to that part of the world (not been in December) - always spring. Take the climate averages and trust them but pack some extra layers.

I've toured around there in the summer, there's some fantastic riding. Whilst I wouldn't fancy touring there in December (especially camping), if you're talking about day rides I reckon it would be great.

I'm working there for 6 weeks so just looking for options to keep pedalling

Too cold for cycling. Go swimming instead! :okay:

The coastal area will be cool and pretty wet - wetter than parts of Britain, but a bit warmer. Inland it is mountainous, and gets lots snow - enough so mountain passes can be blocked for periods of time, and the snowfalls can come a couple of metres at a time. In the nearby Picos a village was cut off for over a month a couple of winters ago.
