One of my cats has the same fascination for boxes, also for bags and cupboard drawers.
She's a big cat but can squeeze her ass into the smallest of spaces. I don't know why, she just likes being in boxes..

But having seen a fluffy cat get soaked once, their bodies are usually considerably smaller than the outline made by their fluff!
