So, something that cropped up on another thread.

Has anyone else noti(Edit -c)ed that stretches of road which appear slightly uphill on the way to work also appear slightly uphill on the way home as well? I think I may have stumbled upon a new law of physics or thermodynamics or entropy or something or other

Maybe it's that you are cycling uphill in one direction, but on the way back you're cycling in the same direction as the Earths rotation, which is obviously harder and may feel as though your going uphill? Also, if there's a full moon behind you, its gravitational pull will make you feel like you're being pulled back. I'm also convinced that whenever the Large Hadron Collider is operating, the Higgs Bosons in my bike are attracted towards Switzerland, thus slowing me down.

No, but they are upside down.
I'm not a fool. I may have been drinking but I know that

BTW. I used to tell learner drivers that red meant stop, red/amber meant stop and green meant stop....unless you are convinced the road ahead is clear. Your quote is better...

You should try just sitting in the same space on the bike, and letting the earths rotation do the hard work for you as you just steer. Gets a hell of an average speed!
