I'm off the bike.
Am writing this on the laptop in bed. Came off the tandem yesterday and have torn the ligaments on my left ankle. Was lucky I didn't break it - the whole weight of me, daughter plus tandem came down on it.
It wouldn't be so bad, but I was already taking it easy to give the ligaments in the right ankle a chance to mend after I knackered them a while ago.

So now I've really gone and done it. I can't believe how painful it is.:cry::biggrin:

Cheer me up, folks...please..

Ouch! That sounds painful...
Hope it mends soon.

Sorry to hear that! Sounds painful and hope the healing process doesn't take too long. Was your daughter OK? And (obvious question ) how's the tandem?

Sorry to hear that; a good excuse for lots of rest!

Not at all self-indulgent post! Ligament damage is awful and requires great care when allowing it to heal.

I'm no physio, but having damaged the ligaments in my knee (I nearly snapped the cruxiate ligament when I dislocated my knee in a skiing accident), I could not cycle or climb for six months!

The physio said that I was not to apply any great force to the knee, but she said that I could go swimming all I liked.

Perhaps regular swimming will be good for your ankle when you can walk on it again - It'll keep you fit and aid the healing process. My physio said that my knee would never be 100% again, but that I should build up the muscles round it to support it - now I cycle and climb with no problems.

Whenever I damage myself I immediately turn my attention to what exercise I can do to get myself better - the power of the mind is very important!
