Am I a soft touch or are my friends tight?

So, there are 2 things you can do:

Pop back to the restaurant with a fiver in an envelope, and either hand it to him, or stick it through the letterbox with a note.

Show your friends this thread.

Tight!!
Your idea of the £30 quid was perfect. The others, Tight!! If its a good meal, not waiting around for ages then at least 10% or round it up to the next biggest number.
My brother is a bit tight like that, I always settle the bill and tip......its almost embarrassing

Tight. Mega tight. Miserly.

I'd always tip 10% at least for good service. 10-15% is the accepted norm. Jesus Christ, what is people's problem with throwing in a few notes and calling it quits? Some git always has to pull out the calculator.

You say they're pretty well off. Why doesn't that surprise me?

Have stick, have cash.

Let's face it, being seen poking money through a restaurant letterbox isn't going to make me any more embarrassed than I already am.

I think deep down I knew they were tight, and that our days were numbered. Seeing it here has helped a lot. Thanks everyone. I will put it right next week when I'm in town.

Oh and Summerdays *bitch alert* - bet it doesn't then...

I certainly don't tip routinely but will happily do so if the service has been exceptionally good. Rounding up to £30 sounds reasonable from what you have said and not much for a good evening out.

I'm afraid I don't tip hairdressers as what I pay works out at about £60 per hour anyway!

I always tip my hairdresser, although I do it myself  "Go on, get yourself a drink, son" "Cheers, mate"

What a bunch of tight gits BK.

I've had the one where someone says that they only had one and a half glasses of wine or didn't have a starter and try to renegotiate the bill. Tossers.

And the equally annoying flipside - the one that decides that the bill is being split evenly.
You can always spot them - they drank a bottle of wine each, ordered oysters and they're the only ones that had a digestif.

Lol at the people saying the friendship should be broke off because of this! It's tight and bad natured, but not worth fighting over.

Are they friends or just work colleges? ditch them any way. I'd book a table at the restaurant soon as possible and take some proper friends. Enjoy it with confidence.
