Am I correct to ride central in this case?

Your colleague is an a-hole, tell them to stick it between their legs for complaining because they couldn't carry out a dangerous overtake. Meanwhile they're tailgating for almost the whole video. I'd honestly stop even pretending to care about their opinion on road safety. Clearly they just want others to just get out of their way and don't care for their well-being.

Print off a copy of this factsheet

Highlight the section:
Cyclists are advised to take a prominent position in the road well ahead of any manoeuvre to ensure
they are in the right place at the right time. If they ride in the middle of the road it is probably not to
obstruct your path, but to ensure that they are seen by you and by other motorists.
Cyclists often ride at some distance from the kerb to avoid drains and potholes and to discourage motorists from
squeezing them on narrow roads. It is not in their interest to delay motorists deliberately.
Remember too that their ability to signal is limited compared to ours, so try to anticipate what they might do from
the position they have taken on the road. Please be patient

Then hand it over with a comment that it is unfortunate they are ignorant of basic advanced driving techniques

Worked for me!

Well you can tell him that a National Standards instructor told you that you were absolutely correct and if he wants to know all the reasons why then he's welcome to contact me. You can also tell him he passed you too close.

In my opinion ride centrally if there is oncoming traffic and it is not okay to be overtaken as at the beginning, but once the road is empty you should move more to the side to let the car behind pass more easily with more room between the two of you. No need to remain central at that point.

There were multiple chances for the following traffic to safely overtake

The cyclist did not inconvenience anyone
