Had a charger fail, replaced quickly by Sue.
Cable from battery to lights frayed after a few weeks exposing copper, battery replaced quickly.
Same thing has happened again, cable frayed but AyUp now gone back to Oz.
It was a pain in the arse sending them back in the UK at 6 quid a time for recorded delivery, definitely wouldn't buy again.

Got mine last summer and never had a minute's bother with them. Used daily and no parts have failed and the cable's still unfrayed. Sounds like you just got very unlucky.

I had the insulation from the battery split and they had moved back to oz by then so I emailed them and they put another battery in the post and I got it a few days later no problem. I love my ayups they are they best lights I have ever had.

Mr Summerday's Christmas present haven't given him a problem yet... he loves them so much brighter than what he had before.

Have some and they've been great - only problem after about 9months is there's a slight loose connection at the socket between the battery pack and the lights. I think it's just some crud gotten in there, but not got around to poking it out.

If cables are regularly fraying, surely there's some rubbing somewhere? Against the brake cables, stem or whatnot?

A nice bright light ... very small - when Mr Summerday comes home I can see the light from miles away (well slight exaggeration). One charge of the battery lasts him all week too. He does some stretches on an unlit cycle path so needed a good light to see by.

Any on ebay? I wouldn't mind a peek.

See http://www.ayuplights.co.uk/content/view/34/101/. However, it appears they've shut the UK shop and now only ship direct from Austrailia (see http://www.ayup.com.au/).

I was interested in getting a set - but their a tad more expensive than I could justify to Mrs Grhm and now there's no UK supplier I probably won't.

They never did have a UK supplier, they used to have a UK shop on their web site but were always supplied direct from Australia. Yes, they are not cheap, but then you get what you pay for, if you want seriously bright lights, you have to accept that they will cost more...

I've not yet seen anyone offering to sell a used set of Ay-Up lights. Either people are so enamoured with them and don't won't to part with them, or they have broken and are not saleable - but then I'd expect to see 'spares and repairs' type offers and I haven't.
