It's more the uncertainty over price - if you buy from Aus in AU$, you then have to convert that to £'s and still run the lottery that is will I have to pay (and how much is) import duty? (Plus every time I've had to pay import duty, the courier/handler has stuck some random 'admin' fee on top.)
I'm not disputing that they're worth the cost - but disputing than my riding actually needs it. I can commute the short way on 100% street lit roads - is only for my pleasure that I sometime go the long way round and cycle on unlit country lanes.
Personally I use
DiNotte lights which I order from the USA and have the same problem with currency fluctuation, import duty, VAT, and the random 'admin' fee. I bought the
400L Road Rider's experience set because I need a bight front light for commuting on unlit rural roads, they were on sale and I could get the rear light at a big discount.
On unlit roads they are great for seeing where you are going, but I also find that when I get into town, I get far more respect from drivers when using them (I run the front light on the low setting in town). I don't get drivers pulling out in front of me the way I used to with bog standard cycle lights. I also find that it is the rear light I just most because it is so bright it is highly effective in daylight. These new generation LED lights maybe expensive but they are worth the money in safety terms, they really do make you more visible!

No they did hold stock and ship from the UK I have spoken to them lots of times on the phone and the items always arrived next day in the UK post so they didnt come from Aus. I also spoke to them when they announced they were no longer shipping from the UK and the people who had been doing it were gutted.
They now only ship direct from Aus which is a shame but they are excellent lights and I would still buy them again even shipped from Aus.
I stand corrected, I remember they had a price in £ on the web site but I thought they were still being shipped from Oz, shame they have to be imported.
